Hebrew School of the Arts with Jewish Niagara

Meaningful Jewish Learning

Our Hebrew School of the Arts offers a meaningful and engaging Jewish educational experience, where children learn not only through instruction, but through hands-on exploration.

With three 8-week sessions per year, children benefit from routine and continuity, helping them understand that Jewish learning is a real priority within the family. At the same time, our arts-based approach brings learning to life, allowing children to experience Jewish traditions, values, and ideas in a way that is dynamic, personal, and memorable.

Students build strong Hebrew reading skills while exploring the Hebrew alphabet, holidays, history, traditions, values, and mitzvot through creative mediums. Whether through art, movement, storytelling, or interactive projects, learning becomes something they experience, not just something they are taught.

Just as importantly, the regular schedule creates space for deeper friendships to form, strengthening their sense of belonging.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed around knowledge and personal connection, giving students a well-rounded Jewish education.

Students become familiar with key Jewish prayers and develop strong Hebrew reading skills through the Aleph Champ system, a proven, levelled approach that breaks reading into clear, achievable goals. This method allows multiple learning levels within one classroom, enabling each child to progress at their own pace while giving educators and parents clear insight into individual strengths and areas for growth. Most importantly, students are internally motivated, as each milestone reached becomes a source of pride and inspiration to keep advancing

Inspired by the structure of karate, Aleph Champ divides Hebrew reading into ten coloured levels. Just like earning a new belt, moving up a level reflects dedication and progress. Through engaging games and activities, students enjoy the journey while building confidence and independence. This sense of achievement fosters self-motivation.

In addition, students explore Jewish traditions and values through the engaging JewQ curriculum, while gaining a deeper understanding of Jewish holidays and their meaning. Hands-on experiences, ranging from creative projects to storytelling, bring each lesson to life, helping students connect personally to what they learn.

A Bat Mitzvah with Jewish Niagara

Bar/Bat Mitvzah Program

Preparing for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah should be a meaningful and empowering journey.

Our program is designed to support each child with personalized guidance, helping them build the skills and confidence needed while developing a deeper understanding of this important milestone. We work closely with every family to create a customized plan tailored to the child’s pace, experience, and learning style. Alongside practical preparation, we focus on fostering a strong sense of connection, pride, and ownership of their Jewish identity.

Our goal is for each student to feel confident, capable, and truly prepared for their special day. We encourage families to schedule a meeting with Rabbi Zalman or Perla to begin planning. While it is ideal to start about a year in advance, we are happy to work with families on shorter timelines whenever possible.

Our program is open to students in Grades 2–7, welcoming children from all Jewish backgrounds with no synagogue membership required. Small class sizes ensure a warm, supportive environment where each child receives individual attention. The program runs in three 8-week sessions throughout the year, with flexible payment options available. We are committed to making this experience accessible so that every child can participate and succeed.
